Property Taxes
Property Taxes
Current taxes are due by October 31.
Payment must be received by the Municipal Office by 4:30 p.m. on the due date.
Accepted payment methods:
- Cash
- Personal cheque
- Money order
- Online banking (through your financial institution)
A penalty of 1.25% per month (15% per annum) will be added to all unpaid taxes after the due date, and a similar penalty will be applied on the first day of each month thereafter until paid.
When paying by cheque, please attach the bottom portion of your bill and write your account (roll) number on the memo line.
Important Notes
-
Online banking payments may take 1–3 business days to process. Please allow sufficient time to ensure your payment is received by the deadline and to avoid interest charges.
-
Tax arrears and penalties must be paid in full before payments can be applied to current taxes.
-
Properties with taxes in arrears for more than one year may be subject to tax sale.
Change of Ownership or Address
Please notify the Municipality of Lorne Administrative Office immediately of any change in ownership or mailing address to ensure your tax invoice is properly delivered.
If you receive a tax notice for a property you no longer own, please forward it to the new owner or return it to the Municipal Office.
Failure to receive an invoice does not exempt you from payment or waive late penalties.
